Carlile Family – 7 generations – 174 individuals – 63 marriages
Descendants of John Carlile of Pike County Alabama
This Web Page is about John Carlile and his descendants. John was born in South Carolina around 1803 and had two families. John married Jane Moon in 1825 and they had seven children. In 1841 he married Gracy Caroline Carnley and they had six children. The Carnley families came as a group from the old Lexington District of South Carolina to Monroe Country Alabama about 1817. John died just before the Civil War but at least seven of his nine sons served during the war.
Lewis Edmond, born in 1853 and John and Gracy’s youngest son, was too young to serve. Even before the Civil War a few of John’s children began to move. Some went to Florida and others to Arkansas and Texas and of course many stayed in Alabama. This Web Page is a record of the descendants of John and his two wives Jane and Gracy.
My thanks to Doc Carlile of Huntsville Alabama and Jo Ann Hopper jhopper494@aol.com who contributed most of the information found here. Doc descends from Barney and Jo Ann from Lewis Edmond.
